I just read a cool article by Clay Dillow at PopSci. He's talking about how the ability to regenerate tissue and heal without scarring is already something humans are capable of but it is being blocked by a single gene. The gene protects against rapid cell division - i.e. cancer. Lab mice without the gene have apparently been seen to regenerate parts of their bodies that were surgically removed, with no evidence remaining.
Anyway, read it. It's cool.
